The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at UI Health is a comprehensive team of specialized cardiac and thoracic surgeons and staff dedicated to delivering the highest quality treatment for conditions of the heart and chest. When patients live with discomfort in the heart and chest or are faced with other challenges caused by cardiac complications, the questions they ask themselves can be never-ending.

MEET THE DIVISION CHIEF
Dr. Malek Massad is the Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at UI Health. Dr. Massad specializes in minimally invasive heart and lung surgery, including surgical treatment for aortic aneurysm surgery; coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) and other complex coronary surgeries; esophageal cancer surgery; heart and lung transplantation; lung cancer surgery; valvular heart disease; and valve repair and replacement. He is the Sara Smart Mansueto Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
