Patient Story: Tumor Removal & Jaw
Veronica was 11 years old when she and her family learned she had an aggressive tumor on her jaw. Luckily she was referred to the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery team at UI Health to remove her tumor and perform reconstructive jaw surgery without impacting her quality of life. The Oral & Maxillofacial surgeons are committed to providing the highest level of care to each patient.
Microneurosurgery ExpertsTanya McCarter is a UI Health nurse who suffered damage to a facial nerve during dental surgery. To treat the damaged nerve, she turned to her UI Health colleague, microsurgery expert Dr. Michael Miloro, who literally authored a textbook on her particular injury. "When I started researching nerve repair specialists, I found Dr. Miloro. And because he was at UI Health, I knew he would take great care of me," said Tanya.
