The Division of Cardiology at UI Health combines medical and surgical approaches to deliver the highest level of care for disorders and diseases of the heart. A successful heart failure program helps patients improve their quality of life and reduces readmissions to the hospital. The Heart Failure Program at UI Health is recognized as a Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement program by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Get With the Guidelines Program for meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of heart patients, including patient evaluation, proper use of medications, and aggressive risk-reduction therapies.

Interventional Cardiology Program

We provide diagnostic evaluations and management of respiratory and allergy-related disorders, including asthma and allergies, in infants, children, and adolescents.

Onco-Cardiology Program

Our Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery teams diagnose and treat acquired heart problems and congenital heart disease or malfunction in children.

Preventative Cardiology Program

Our pediatric endocrinologists provide comprehensive care to children and adolescents with diabetes and glandular disorders.

Dr. Dawood Darbar is the Chief of the Division of Cardiology at UI Health. Dr. Darbar is an experienced clinical electrophysiologist who has built a robust academic-clinical electrophysiology practice. His particular area of expertise relates to the assessment and management of patients with inherited heart rhythm disorders, including long QT syndrome and Brugada syndrome. Dr. Darbar provides state-of-the-art therapies, including atrial fibrillation ablation, to patients with arrhythmias. He also specializes in the genetics and ablation of arrhythmias, insertion of pacemakers and defibrillators, and cardiac rhythm monitoring.
