The Division of Cardiology at UI Health combines medical and surgical approaches to deliver the highest level of care for disorders and diseases of the heart. Advanced Therapies for Heart Valve Disease

The Structural Heart Disease Program at UI Health is a combination medical and surgical program that uses minimally invasive interventions to repair and replace valves in the heart. Our team of interventional cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons provides transcatheter procedures to treat heart valve disease — eliminating the need for open-heart surgery.

Our general pediatricians provide preventative care that ensures children grow up healthy and develop properly.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Our Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery teams diagnose and treat acquired heart problems and congenital heart disease or malfunction in children.

Dr. Dawood Darbar is the Chief of the Division of Cardiology at UI Health. Dr. Darbar is an experienced clinical electrophysiologist who has built a robust academic-clinical electrophysiology practice. His particular area of expertise relates to the assessment and management of patients with inherited heart rhythm disorders, including long QT syndrome and Brugada syndrome. Dr. Darbar provides state-of-the-art therapies, including atrial fibrillation ablation, to patients with arrhythmias. He also specializes in the genetics and ablation of arrhythmias, insertion of pacemakers and defibrillators, and cardiac rhythm monitoring.
